Quabu Woodworking focuses on making handcrafted furniture, including solid hardwood benches, for schools, congregations, and other institutions that can include organization names, mottos, and/or taglines as part of the bench design.
Quabu Woodworking is the business identity for David Hickson, a professional woodworker and teacher. David formed Quabu Woodworking after more than 30 years of independent school administration and science and arts teaching. With a lifetime of personal and professional creative work with his hands, David has focused on quality furniture making for over 12 years, exploring a diversity of historic and contemporary styles. David has received instruction from several notable craftsmen including Steve Latta, Alf Sharp, Kevin Rodel, Marc Adams, Jim Rendi, Jeff Lefkowitz, and Ben Hobbs.
Quabu Woodworking takes its name from the two faith traditions that have most influenced David’s perspectives on life, Quakerism and Buddhism.
